I am a descendent of the Porterfield family,&found the Duchal Estate during my research of my family tree.My Porterfield research goes back to the early 1300's in Scotland

Lived in Kilmacolm 1942 to 1965 My Dad was Alex Whittet. Moved to Canada 1965

I am very interested in visiting the location of the Duchal Castle, as I believe it was built by some of my ancestors. My husband and I are planning a trip to Scotland in the Fall; Kilmacolm is beautiful, and will certainly be on our list of places to visit. Where might I find directions to the site of the old Duchal Castle, and is it on public property? Thank you, Marsha Lyle Price
