Bridge of Weir Moss Road Park:

The buzz is all about Bridge of Weir this week. At the regular Community Council meeting on Tuesday 7th February, more than 70 people turned up to hear proposed plans to sell Moss Road Park for development. The meeting raised a number of questions and Renfrewshire Council representatives agreed that further consultation is necessary before any decisions are made.

We now understand that there is a Local Development Plan Report which was launched in December 2011. We have only now become aware of it and there is a closing date for responses of 5.00pm, on Friday 24 February 2012.

This Plan shows areas within each village and town in Renfrewshire which could be given to development. We, the public have the opportunity to make comment on these but responses need to be submitted by the date above.

It is a bit of a read with more than 80 pages, but please take a little time to look through it. Page 3 explains what the Main Issues Report is and how the public can respond to its content. Pages 20-29 cover possible areas for housing or development. Page 56 for Bridge of Weir and Brookfield, page 60 for Houston and Howwood, page 63 for Kilbarchan and Langbank, page 65 for Lochwinnoch.

Also, here is a link to Renfrewshire Council's Housing & Community Safety Policy Board's minute, found on a google search, from a meeting in November 2011 when the Moss Park proposals were first discussed. This is PDF file and may take a little while to download.

If you are a Facebook user you can check out the group page set up for those concerned about the proposed developments. Find them at "Save Moss Road Park and Village".

Councillor Michael Holmes has voiced his opposition to the proposed sale of the land. He is conducting a survey at present to allow local residents to express their views, the site address is http://savemosspark.wordpress.com/ He has also said that he would be happy to hear from anyone who wishes to contact him in relation to this. His email address is cllr.michael.holmes@refrewshire.gov.uk or phone 07917 882296.
