Langbank Kilmacolm Quarriers Village Bridge of Weir Houston Kilbarchan Lochwinnoch HowwoodThe Origins of The Advertizer
The original Advertiser was first published in September 1900 as a weekly news-sheet, delivered free to every home in Kilmacolm by local children.
Interrupted from 1940-47 during the war, when paper fell in short supply, it continued to be an important part of village life until the mid-1980's when production ceased.
Brought out of retirement in February 1995, The Advertizer was delivered free throughout Kilmacolm, Bridge of Weir, Quarriers, Houston and Langbank.
Now as a quality glossy monthly magazine, distribution has been extended to cover Lochwinnoch, Brookfield and Kilbarchan with copies being left in selected shops and garages. Bishopton and Howwood were also added to the circulation in late 2006.
Funded only by the advertisers, The Advertizer in return aims to give value for money by providing a professional responsive service at a personal level, providing access to an affluent rural marketplace with an effective delivery system.
